29 April 2010

I have really been slacking with my outfit posts recently, mainly because I have looked like a total tramp since last Friday, ha. I shall definately do a outfit post on Saturday, along with my first giveaway! I am vair excited. I went to Cath Kidston after college today to buy my mum a belated birthday present, as I just got my hands on some money (thank-you EMA!). Cath Kidston is one of my favourite shops, it's just so cute and vintage inspired, and the floral prints are lovely. Okay, so some things are rather overpriced, but it's good to treat yourself (or someone else) once in a while! I said in a previous post that my mum and I are kitting out our kitchen with Spray Flowers china, so I bought my mum a sugar bowl, some pretty tea towels and a blue enamel hook to hang them on. She'll be home soon, I hope she likes them!

good morning, good morning

EDIT: Actually, it's not a good morning for me anymore, i feel like fucking shit!

My mum and I picked up this lovely vintage inspired Typhoon clock recently at our local charity shop for £4.99, which was quite a bargain as these clocks are usually priced around £20. The gorgeous colours of clotted cream and blue go perfectly with our kitchen, which we are slowly filling up with Spray Flowers china from Cath Kidston and other floral, candy coloured bits and bobs. I instantly think of Cornwall when I look at this clock, I want to go to St Ives so badly, it seems like a wonderful place. Have any of you been before?

these are a few of my favourite things

i adore making collages, but i have been slacking recently, so i'm determined to fill up this a5 sketchbook by my eighteenth birthday, which is on the fifteenth of july. i hope everyone is having a lovely sunday, my mum and i were originally going to sell some bits and bobs at our local car boot sale, but it was raining when we woke up, so we have decided to stay at home in out pajamas instead! did anyone get any good bargains today? love, jazzabelle.

Today has been a bloody lovely day, the weather has been amazing in London once again! The sunrise was beautiful, and then later on in the morning whilst waiting for my train I couldn't see a single cloud in the sky. I had my college interview this morning, which only lasted twenty minutes, and I GOT IN! All of that worrying for nothing, hey? So I have a place on a Foundation art course in September if I achieve at least a pass for my National Diploma in Art and Design! Anyway, I decided to go for more of a simple outfit today, so i stuck to three main colors of black, blue and white. And gold, if you want to include my brooch!

P.S. I have decided to start my giveaway of the first of May, I'll post more details then! Have a lovely weekend, everyone!

22 April 2010

I picked up this lovely jewellery box at my local charity shop yesterday, it was only £2.50! Which was quite a bargain, really, as this particular charity shop is usually rather expensive. I mean, they sell old primark clothes for more then they are to buy brand new, which is rather ridiculous. I assume the reason why they sold it so cheap was due to all of the damage, but that is the reason why i adore this box, which i have already filled up with my brooches, buttons, and a lovely pair of lace gloves my grandma gave me.

I should be at college right now, but I'm feeling pretty ill so i'm taking the day off. I think the sicky feeling in my stomach is because i'm nervous, though. I have a college interview tomorrow morning, at the college where i'm currently studying a two year National Diploma in Art & Design, so I can hopefully carry on and do a one year Foundation art course, as I do not want to go university. I really do hope I get accepted, though I don't think I will (that's pessimism for you!). Wish me luck, I really do need it! Have any of you been going to interviews recently?

Oh, and I know I haven't done an outfit post in a while, but I will definitely do one over the weekend, it's going to be around 22 degrees in London, cor blimey!

20 April 2010

I bought these two books at the charity shop for £1.50, along with a Marc Jacobs S/S 2008 lookbook for a £1. The Cooking Clips book is just too cute, it looks very vintage and contains little pouches for me to put recipes i tear out of magazines, plus some notepaper at the back to write my own favourite recipes. What is your favourite/signature recipe? Mine is salmon, roast potatoes, honey roasted parsnips, caramelized onions and creamy leeks :)
P.S I can't believe I have gained over fifty followers already, plus more who often comment on my blog. Keep your eyes peeled for a giveaway! Love, Jazzabelle.

dry your eyes, sunday girl

* Elvis shirt, Topshop, £20
* Blondie necklace, Asos, £1
* Pearl necklace, charity shop, £1

My mum and I went on our usual sunday afternoon trip to the local car boot sale, which was lovely as always. I picked up two doilies for 50p (I'm starting to build up quite a collection!), a cute brooch for 50p, plus an old biscuit tin, a floral H&M waistcoat and an old frame all for £1 each. I'm back to college tomorrow, so I may not be able to post as regularly as I have been doing, though I will try my best! Hopefully I can get back on track with my artwork, as over the holidays I lost the inspiration and the drive to complete my work. I hope everyone has had a wonderful day, hasn't the weather just been gorgeous?

Today my dear friend and I went to the member's preview of the new Grace Kelly exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum. It was a beautiful exhibition, though I think it could of done with being in a larger, brighter space. Despite that, the displays were wonderful, the clothes were glamourous and I totally recommend that you have a little visit, and maybe purchase some of the gorgeous things they have on offer in the gift shop.

We also popped in to my favourite charity shop (oh how I love the 50p rail!) and I picked up this cute pink shirt, as well as an oversized cropped floral blouse.

15 April 2010

Gap striped shirt, 50p. Skinny jeans, I haven't got a clue. I have had these skinny jeans for so many years that they aren't actually black anymore, they are more of a disgusting grey colour. I haven't worn these out in about two years though, i just think i look stupid in them because i am so lanky and have skinny legs, blah blah blah. The last two years have consisted of me wearing anything but jeans or trousers, I am still looking for the perfect pair. But apprently I look nice in these, so I may just have to wear them out and look a tad awkward and lanky in them. Oh, and I need a hair cut, my split ends are DISGUSTING!

14 April 2010

* Denim jumpsuit, River Island, £25
* Lace top, charity shop, 50p
* Mock stock tights, Henry Holland, £12
* Leather boots, Topshop, £60
* Vintage bag, car boot sale, free
* Domino brooch, Camden, £3
* Sign, Brighton, £3.50
Today consisted of me and my cousin, Damien, visiting Camden, Carnaby Street and the Victoria and Albert Museum. We had a great day, but I am oh so tired from all of the walking we did up and down stairs and through many winding streets. It feels so lovely to sit on my mum's bed, drinking a cup of camomile tea in my Cath Kidston mug :) After all of the places we went, all I ended up buying was a domino brooch (you might be able to see it on me in the first photograph), some brooch backs and a cute ceramic button from the V&A. I got an awful lot of looks because of my Henry Holland mock stock tights, some negative and some positive. I also got some lovely compliments, which is always sweet to hear. Goodness me, back to college on Monday, I am so not looking forward to it. But on the plus side I am visiting the preview of the Grace Kelly exhibition at the V&A this Friday which I have been looking forward to for ages!

What a beautiful photograph. I love how the simple wall contrasts against the cluttered breakfast table. I also adore the ''Please. No Singing, No Dancing, No Swearing. This Is A Respectable House'' sign, I have one in my bedroom.
P.S. I just can't believe how many followers I have got and so quickly, I'm oh so glad you like my blog! Love, Jazzabelle.

she's a mess, now the girl is stressed

* Sheer grey blouse, car boot sale, 50p
* DIY skirt
* M&S bag, car boot sale, £4
* Polka dot tights, Primark, £2
* Grey socks, H&M, £3
We all like to dress up even when we aren't going anywhere, and for me, today is just one of those days, even though I should really be getting on with my college artwork (but let's not get into that otherwise I will probably burst into tears). I am obsessed with polka dot tights right now, so my mum bought me another pair from Primark for only £2, and surprisingly they are actually better quality than the New Look ones which cost double the amount! On my usual car boot sale trip on Sunday, I picked up this cute M&S Limited Collection bag for only four pounds, and when I looked on their website there are similar bags for around £25, so I think I got myself a bargain there! :) I hope everyone is having a lovely Tuesday!

P.S. My mum bought me the denim jumpsuit!
P.P.S. She also bought me an Elvis Topshop t-shirt!
P.P.P.S. And some Henry Holland mock stock tights!

breakfast at tiffany's

Screen shots from here.
Breakfast at Tiffany's is one of the most beautiful films I have ever watched, alongside Roman Holiday and The Waiting Room, so I thought I would share some of my favourite screen shots. Audrey Hepburn, looking wonderful as always, and wasn't George Peppard just gorgeous?

grace kelly: style icon

image from here, edited by me.
From the 17th of April, the Victoria and Albert Museum will be hosting a Grace Kelly exhibition displaying many of her outfits, including her wedding dress and haute couture gowns made by her favourite designers such as Dior, Balenciaga and Yves St Laurent. Also on display will be her Oscar statuette, jewellery, hats, posters, photographs and film clips. From what I have read it seems like it is going to be a lovely, glamourous exhibition which will take us through Grace Kelly's wonderful style. I am very much looking forward to going to this exhibition, as I do not know much about Grace Kelly and I am keen to discover more about such a beautiful lady. As a member of the Victoria and Albert Museum I will have the opportunity to see it a day before it is open to the general public, which will be a real treat. Will any of you be visiting this fashionable exhibition?
