A few days ago I popped along to 42 Lamb's Conduit Street with Tory to attend a little event at Emu's pop up store with a handful of other bloggers. To be honest, I actually wasn't planning on going, not only because I wasn't in the best of moods, but also as Emu is a brand I would never have associated myself with so I was a little weary about attending, but I'm glad I did. Whilst my views on 'ugg' style boots haven't changed as I personally don't like the style, my views have definitely changed on the brand after hearing about the history of Emu and seeing what other pieces they had on offer, including women's apparel and accessories. The pop up store itself was lovely - I adored the decor (you can see some photographs of the store on my Facebook page), plus everyone was so darn nice and made us feel so welcome! We were also, unbelievably, gifted with any pair of shoes we liked from the store, so I chose these lovely leather boots, which were a favourite amongst us all there. I've never worn boots at this length before, and whilst they aren't my usual cup of tea I like to think they suit me, plus the sheepskin lining makes them ever so comfortable! Whilst these won't be a pair of shoes I wear everyday (I'll be sharing them with my mum, who conveniently has the same size feet as me!), they will be perfect to wear on cold, rainy days in the Autumn/Winter. Thank-you to Cube PR for inviting me, I had a great time! Has going to blogger or press events ever changed your opinion on a brand? And what are your opinions on bloggers accepting free gifts? Love, Jazzabelle.

  1. I think they really suit you, I think there's something really beautiful about looking comfortable. Honestly these are my favourite photos of you, I think you look really happy and lovely really! You also have the most amazing pins so you can totes pull off a boot that length.

I dont mind bloggers receiving free gifts, as long as they retain their own integrity about it and dont let it take over their blog!

    Love this post,
    M xx

  3. I guess that Next is a prime example! It was great to learn more about the company when we went and see how they translate the trends ins tore, waiting for my white collared dress to come as we speak! I think you know my opinion on free gifts, it can be a great way to experiment with your style using pieces you wouldn't otherwise be aware of or able to afford. Love the photos of the blossom and you of course, wish I could carry off such a hat! See you soon!

  4. I love this :) & even though you are layered up, still think it looks really spring like- with the hat & the shorts.

  5. They really do suit you Jazmine, i love them with the cut-offs too :)
The only brand I've really had much contact with is Aussie, and their whole PR system has definitely swayed my opinion of them - before any involvement I just brushed past their products as yet another hair brand, but now i know the hard work they put into it, I'm always seen to favour their stuff - it definitely helps to see 'behind the scenes' as it were, and meet the people responsible for keeping everything in tip top condition x

  6. nice to try something out the comfort zone. i say get what you can(depending on the situation, bribery is not cool) if the feeling is right. it's just like if you attend an event and you get a goody bag right? it's when you blog just to get the free stuff when it becomes uncool and you start to question their integrity. make sense?

  7. I know i've said this before but these photos are amazingly beautiful (love the first photograph). You should wear boots more often they really suit you.

  8. I think those boots suit you perfectly fine! I personally prefer to shop at indie stores because I like to wear things that are owned by the fewest people possible, but I really like your new boots.

hope you have a nice week!

    Miki.

  9. I'm really shocked those boots are from Emu. In my little bubble of a world, Emu is synonymous with sheepskin uggs. They look very lovely on you indeed - the brown leather looks very country-like and matches your surroundings perfectly! :)

    You look amazing as always!

I love having the same size feet as my Mom, I always used to pinch her shoes at home! Yes Tesco blogger event, really changed my opinion of supermarket fashion xxx

  15. Oh these photos are lovely. Those boots look fantastic on you. As for bloggers receiving free gifts, as other people have said, I don't mind it as long as they maintain a sense of integrity about it and practice full transparency. I've recently been gifted some stuff and it is quite exciting!

  18. Jazmine, these boots are amazing and really suits you. In fact I absolutely love this whole outfit on you. Looking forward to wearing those boots again, they are so comfy x

As Mat said it's just like receiving a goody bag. As long as you are not blogging just to get freebies then it's all cool x

  20. You look stunning in the first picture! Looks like it was really a beautiful day, I love the fact that Spring is beginning to make an appearance.
The boots really suit you, I didnt really know much about the brand either apart from the fact that they sell ugg boots. They arnt really my style so I have never investigate further.
Like everyone else I dont really thing recieving free gifts is wrong along as the person maintains a sense of integrity. Only except things that are relevent to the blog.

  21. I love your outfit, it's so beautifully layered and matched up - I wish I had your eye for layering!
The boots look great, they really suit you. Blogs with a million freebies don't interest me, but the odd gift here and there is cool, so long as it fits in with the blogger's style - which these do perfectly!
I love your charity shop finds, I'm posting some up from a good weekend's shopping myself :D

  22. Hi lady - the boots look fab, as they did in the shop. Nice work! I have to say, even though I went for the uggs to use on very lazy Sundays only, I keep accidentally wearing them to work because they are so gosh darn cosy. Damn you Emu, you have made me an ugg person! I'm going to try and go cold turkey next week to wean myself off wearing them.
By the way, I think the writing in this post was really lovely - I don't know why you worry about it. You write with your real voice, somthing most people find really hard to do, so don't beat yourself up! Sorry if that sounded condescending!
    Lots of love,
    Tory

  24. Gorgeous pictures, the park (and you!) are beauitful!
Emu, never would have paired them with leather just with uggs, so it's refreshing to hear that.
Bloggers events are great to get a better idea of the brand, the ideas and the people behind it. I'd always be honest with reviews on items received or detailed on my blog, you are valued for your honest opinion I think.

  26. Love these boots on you. I do love the EMU sheepskin boots and have a pair of mini ones but know they are not everyone's cup of tea.

I think as long as you say about the freebies then there's no problem. I've found a few brands that I'd never have known about by being contacted by them or through posts by others which I think is great.

Love how you have layered your jumper and cardigan together :)

  35. I love that hat on you--it's so cool! I am pretty anti-Ugg boot too, although I secretly want to live at the Ugg store in Bicester...everything is so soft and warm and cozy in that store!

I love those boots they gave you too! They're so classic and versatile--lucky you!
